sushi summary
I came up with this thesis a long time ago, many of you will doubt it, since it will be against what may have been brainwashed or imprinted into your mind.
No one really likes sushi, they may say they do, and may even believe it, but it's a LIE! No one, not even the Japanese like it, for them it's culture, for us it's chic, so many of us claim to be big fans.
You see... long time ago in feudal Japan, a dignitary from an opposing clan came to visit one of the local Daimyos at his palace, because to simply kill the dignitary would violate the codes of bushido and be an affront to honor, the Daimyo had to device a cunning plot to be able to kill the dignitary in a legitimate manner.
So he concocted sushi, he instructed his head chef to make something of the worst ingredients imaginable, horseradish (yuck!) cold rice (eww!) seaweed (gross!) and raw fish (like ummm.... NO!) and mix it all together, so it could be served to the dignitary and then after the dignitary expressed his disgust, the Daimyo could kill him for offending his honor.
But the dignitary was smarter than that, he knew his life would be in danger, and was on his toes (except when sitting, they do that on their knees over there) and after eating the horrid sushi, told the daimyo that it was delicious. Aghast at the turn of events, the Daimyo had to eat it and claim to love it as well as to not look bad in front of all the other Daimyos. So he did, and one of the biggest lies ever told began...
No one wanted to go against the Daimyo and the traveling dignitary, so when given to people they said they loved it, and news traveled the land of this 'wonderful' new food (please!) and now its reached the status it is today, the evil sushi conglomerates probably don't even eat sushi, they just make sure that it is expensive so people will think it's chic and trendy. but they also allow there to be cheap supermarket sushi for the masses.
look... if two wrongs don't make a right, then four wrongs definitely don't make a right. they should make a left, as in left in the trash where sushi belongs.
(4 wrongs = cold rice, horseradish, seaweed, raw fish = still WRONG!)
I hope you all enjoyed my rant.

note to self... blog more often
so a couple of interesting yet ultimately useless comments today, about a week-ish ago i saw some interesting vanity plates, [I OWN U] was hilarious and i think that guy was a video gamer, likely tried to get [I PWN U] but it was taken, but the best one was for sure [DMV SUX] because they had to go through the dmv to get i im sure.
thanksgiving is coming, and winco feels like a circus where the animals and freaks are incharge, fo sho! people run around like chickens with their heads cut off and wonder why its so bad, and you tell them its because thanksgiving is soon and theyre like, but its saturday, and i wanna slap them and say YEAH! the saturday BEFORE thanksgiving you MORON. its only going to get worse from here, if you still gotta do it do it sonner rather than later and later in the evening.
i went dancing tonight, well last night technically, and i feel great, i havent been since college night on the first and thats not even really november, so its the first time ive been in november as far as im concerned.

menagerie
so, a lot has happened since i last blogged, most notably, the elections and such, so for the actual persons involved, my candidates didnt get voted, but we told bill sizemore where he can stick his initiatives, so thats good.
as far as the president elect, until he does something rediculously stupid he will have my support as an american citizen, i will not look at every little thing he does with hypocritical scrutiny and then have host a riot and claim its a rally when i dont like something, of course i have my fears concerning his policies, but i do have the good fortune of working at a place where i wont likely have to deal with the fallout that could potentially arise from his economical decisions, worst case scenario... his election is making me more eager to get a food storage going, in preparation for the worst possible outcome. had mccain been elected i would likely be more complacent about it and still not gotten on board with it.
my vampire costume won 3rd place at the works halloween contest, and then a bunch of people at work said that i was robbed by whoever was chosen to be the judges, but i dont care.
dinner on sunday, making spanish rice, invite one of my home teachees, desha, cause shes one of the cool kids. hope she makes it.

open sesame
so today, well... yesterday, i made sesame chicken for dinner for everyone, and it turned out great, but i came to the conclusion that its not too great for you what with the 4 cups of sugar i had to add and all, but then again, i could likely have made half as much sauce and we'd have been fine. i made it without chicken broth for ariel and it still turned out great, but ive not had it with chicken broth yet, so who knows eh? maybe this will have been better. but the funny thing was the cans were clearly labelled as 'vegetarian' vegetable broth, as though there was another kind. i also threw in some peanuts for kicks and giggles.

they're watching you
so today i fed the missionaries some chinese food that i delicately hand made myself, it was good, but a humorous thing happened, another elder called them during the meal asking if they had found a watch when they left that he had left behind on a prior exchange. im pretty sure he wasnt actually yelling out of anger or anything, im sure it was mostly sarcastic but i could hear him from the other side of the room yelling that he 'wanted his watch back', cause 'since they moved to a new place and took everything that they must have it'. and poor elder de souza i dont know if he realized he was joking if he even was so i asked for the phone and my conversation with this elder jamison went something like this (it may be slightly different because i forget things, and i changed the other elders name to protect the him)...
me- hello, what seems to be the problem?
elder jamison (ej)- i want my dang watch back!
me- i guess i dont know about you, but i wear my watch on my wrist and when i take it off i make sure to remember it when i go somewhere right?
ej- who is this?
me- my name is nathan doyle, the missionaries are having dinner at my place when you called, youre quite loud, i can hear you from the other side of the room. now when i wear a watch i usually keep it on my wrist, you do too right?
ej- yes (i could tell he sounded a little worried)
me- so if you left it behind you had to take it off right?
ej- yes (i wonder if he thought i was going to call the mission pres)
me- so ill tell you what, if they find it ill have them tell you.
ej- i just wanted my watch back
me- well dont worry, im sure that if they find it they will let you know... ok?
(i hung up on him)
the greenie that was with elder do souza, elder zufelt or feltman or someting, im so bad with names, thought what i did was so cool and the greenie game me a high five. and they liked the food, so i was happy. the end.
